The Bluff
The Bluff has somebody to impress, often a potential romantic partner. The partner expresses an interest in a particular film or director. The Bluff feigns a fanatical devotion to the same, and so a date is fixed to go to the cinema. On the night, the Bluff is faced with the ordeal of sitting through a three hour epic relating the story of a Russian cheesemaker, filmed in black and white, and, of course, subtitled. Few romances flourish under these conditions, which as a pity because often the partner is also a Bluff, and both really fancied Star Wars which was showing in the other theatre. Favourite films: Star Wars.
